The beauty in abstraction is illusive, tenuous, shoot through with clandestine mists and temptations. Second hand news? I would think that the word “news” would help in understanding what may be wrong with the idea that any of it can really be second hand.
I read the news to become aware of what I, as yet, am unaware of; that makes it first hand to me. That is where the phrase, “Spread the News,” came from.
There are pitfalls, of course, such as: untrue embellishments, the “paint it pink and tie a balloon on it” approach to the controversial or hazardous, or just plain making up your own news (or fables). But to turn your nose up at linking to, or expressing an opinion about, a news story – in every case, seems repressive.
Odd how some folks react when word starts to get around, both odd and sometimes amusing.
